Garner Holt Productions - Animatronics Camp

I visited San Bernadino for a week and participated in Garner Holt Productions’ adult animatronics camp. I don't have many opportunities to study animatronics in my area, so I jumped on the opportunity to study under one of the biggest names in the industry. They have many educational opportunities for kids and people local to the SoCal area, so I was grateful they set up a week dedicated to adult learning that I could participate in. All of the materials were provided, but the components were very simple and pieces I'm already familiar with, such as servos, so I already have some modifications planned for my next project using these pieces. They also gave us a tour of the actual animatronics manufacturing facility, and it was so inspiring seeing technical practices and artistic fields blended together.

  • Mid assembly of some 3D printed mechanical components and the base structure

  • Servos installed into laser-cut bird frame

  • Figure finishing on my 20's flapper bird, based on the Canadian goose

  • Semi-final product... for now... mods coming soon!
